POLITICAL ACTIVISTS DURING THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT
During the Civil Rights Movement, thousands of political activists stood up to the American government and its officials and voiced their disapproval of their laws, actions, and prejudice against the African American race. These people were inspired by influential leaders such as Martin Luther King Jr to participate in peaceful protests and marches instead of returning the hate and violence that they received. Although the majority of the protesters were African American, people of all races participated in these protests and fought to eliminate racism and Jim Crow laws in our country.
